One Nation One Election bills passed in Lok Sabha

 

It is reported that two bills enabling simultaneous elections were introduced in the Lok Sabha after a heated debate. Though opposition parties criticized the bills as an assault on federalism, a claim refuted by the government. 

But the bills passed with 269 votes in favor and 198 against, marking the first use of electronic voting in the new Parliament House.Two bills that lay down the mechanism to hold simultaneous elections were introduced in the Lok Sabha after a fiery debate on Tuesday.
